Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

JJ Abrams will attempt to adapt Boilerplate: History's Mechanical Marvel for Bad Robot/Paramount.  The story follows the world's first robot and its adventures in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Chloe Moretz (Kick Ass) is being considered for the main role in The Rut, which features a highly trained young girl searching for her missing father.

The Yogi Bear teaser is sad.

MGM has officially canned the Robocop remake.

Porn starlet Sasha Grey will join Thomas Jane, Jeremy Piven and Rob Lowe in I Melt With You.  The movie follows three friends who have a summer reunion and decide to resurrect an old pact.

David Fincher has cast Daniel Craig in his take on Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.  Also, he's come out and said that he currently has no plans for the other two books in the trilogy.

Zack Snyder has put out a teaser for Sucker Punch.  It looks insane.

Len Wiseman is set to direct the remake of Total Recall for Columbia.

Guillermo Del Toro's next directorial effort will be an adaptation of HP Lovecraft's The Mountains Of Madness.  The story centers around an expedition to Antarctica that awakes a prehistoric species.  James Cameron will produce.

Despite a slew of rumors, Eva Longoria has not been cast as The Wasp in The Avengers.

Rhianna will make her screen debut in Peter Berg's Battleship.

I still don't think that Let Me In is going to work, but the new trailer isn't bad.

Thandie Newton and Cillian Murphy will star in The Retreat.  The movie follows a couple trying to figure out what to do after they're told an airborne virus has killed everyone else on the island in which they're vacationing.

Isaiah Mustafa (Old Spice commercial guy) has been cast in Horrible Bosses.  The plot centers around three friends who decide to kill their bosses.  Jennifer Aniston is set to star.

Steve Carell is attached to star in Raised By Wolfs for Dreamworks.  No word yet on the plot.

Here's the trailer for Drive Angry.  How have I never heard of this film before?  Looks ridiculously fun.

New Line Cinemas has slashed the budget of the Gears Of War adaptation.  Len Wiseman is also no longer attached to direct.

Justin Timberlake has reportedly been offered a part in Im.mortal.

Musician/screenwriter Nick Cave has been brought in to rewrite The Crow reboot.

Russell Brand (Get Him To The Greek) will star in the comedic telling of John Hawkwood's life.  Apparently, the guy was a famous mercenary in the 1400s.  The movie is expected to be titled Hawkwood.

Liam Neeson let it be known that he is no longer attached to Steven Spielberg's Abraham Lincoln film.

Writer Evan Goldberg recently said that sequels to Superbad and Pineapple Express won't be happening.

Originally a part that went to Sam Worthington, Tom Hardy (Inception) will star along side Chris Pine and Reese Witherspoon in This Means War.  The movie follows two spies that fall in love with the same woman.
