Today's Quick Mention: Well, it would
appear that Gorillaz will be paying the Frank Erwin
Center a visit on October 22. My guess is that
the show will be good, but I'd like to specifically
know what we might be in for. Anyone ever seen
them play? Is it awesome? Terrible?
Mediocre? Tell me.
Whenever I hear or see the name Les Savy Fav I don't
actually think of any music. Instead, I
picture the band on a stage somewhere with frontman Tim Harrington
leading a wild onslaught of bizarre activity.
Don't worry though, it doesn't mean their songs
aren't memorable. I'm just
easily distracted by crazy people. Frenchkiss
will release Root For Ruin on September 14.

Savy Fav - Let's Get Out of Here:
These guys have done quite a bit of straight forward indie
rock in their 10-year existence, but I don't remember the
last time they were this reserved. Although,
"reserved" with Les Savy Fav means there is still an edge,
and in this song it's the layer of anxious energy that
comfortably rests just below the cool and steady
arrangement. Can't wait to hear this gem live.
