Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

Robert Rodriguez let it be known at ComicCon that he's currently looking for ideas to base a Predators sequel on.

Brad Pitt is finally all set to star in the adaptation of Max Brooks' World War Z.  Marc Forster (Quantum Of Solace) is still attached to direct.

Zack Snyder may direct the 300 follow-up Xerxes.  The story, as you may have guessed, centers around the main "villain" from the last film and why he is the way he is.

The Star Trek sequel is supposedly set to starting shooting in January of next year.

Since a sequel to Anchorman was killed by Paramount, director Adam McCay has said he would now like to pursue Step Brothers 2.

Take a look at the There Will Be Dragons trailer.  Could be OK.

Tim Burton is still not fully locked in as director, but Monsterpocalypse is well on its way to being made.  The movie centers around Earth and the creation of giant robots to help battle the invasion of huge alien monsters.

Sam Raimi may direct the adaptation of the graphic novel Earp: Saints For Sinners.  The story features Wyatt Earp, but it's set in modern times where Las Vegas is the only boom town left.

Just when I thought Dwayne Johnson would never make another action movie again, I see the trailer for Faster.  If we're lucky it'll be good.

Tyler Lautner (Twilight) was reportedly very close to be cast in X-Men: First Class, but he had to drop out because of scheduling issues.  Victory!

The new trailer shows way too much of the movie, but Megamind does look entertaining.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter) will star in the adaptation of The Woman In Black.  The movie follows a town that's being haunted by the ghost of a scorned woman.

Karl Urban is set to play the role of Judge Dredd in the reboot.

The new Tron Legacy trailer looks amazing.  See it now.

Scarlett Johansson has reportedly verbally agreed to star in Alfonso Cuaron's (Children Of Men) Gravity.  Robert Downey Jr. has already been cast.

Tony Scott and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) are both said to be on the list of directors that Fox would prefer helm the Wolverine sequel.

Buried has a new trailer.  Pretty snazzy.

Mark Ruffalo has officially been cast as Bruce Banner/Hulk in The Avengers.

Jonathan Nolan is rumored to be the front runner to direct the Superman reboot.  As you surely know, his brother Christopher is already the producer.

Sam Worthington will star in the adaptation of Dan Dare.  The comic strip is said to be a sort of British Buck Rogers.

The trailer for The Company Men is just depressing.

Guillermo Del Toro will write and produce (and possibly direct) the reboot of Haunted Mansion for Disney.

Gael Garcia Bernal will star in The Loneliest Planet, which follows a couple as they backpack through the Caucasus Mountains.

I love Helen Mirren.  That's all.  Here's the trailer for The Debt.  And the one for Red.  Both look good.

Pixar has bee brought in to advise on the upcoming Muppets movie.

A nice trailer for Stone has been released.  I'm just sort of thrilled to see Milla Jovovich do something good again.

Simon Pegg will reportedly return for Mission Impossible 4.

Julia Styles will star in the adaptation of The Bell Jar.  The story centers around an intern who has a mental breakdown while working for a magazine in the 1950s.

Woody Allen's You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger has a trailer.  I dig it.

Jim Carrey will star in Pierre Pierre, which is about an obnoxious Frenchmen who is trying to smuggle a stolen painting.  Larry Charles (Borat) will direct.
