Today's Quick Mention:  Dan hoodwinked me and didn't let me know that he's in Canada this week.  Bummer.  On the bright side, I went ahead and assembled a post ... even though I just got home from a less than stellar trivia outing at the Pluckers in Round Rock.  Thank me later.

This year has already seen a slew of fantastic indie rock releases from lady-lead acts, so why not allow the Screaming Females to throw another quality effort on the pile?  Look for Castle Talk to hit store shelves on September 14.  Also, the band has a show booked at the Mohawk on the 9th of that same month.  We should go.  Enjoy.

:Screaming Females - I Don't Mind It:  Does it get more simple than this track?  I'm really not sure if anything out there does.  However, as is the case with similar acts like the Splinters, Chin Chin and, to some degree, the Dum Dum Girls, I just get caught up in the less-than-complex sound they're going for and I can't ever seem to get the damn songs out of my head.  Expect a similar effect.
