Today's Quick Mention:  Want to start writing like it's a real job?  Then now seems as good a time as any to get your freelance career rolling.  The Austinist is looking and, if you're feeling up for the challenge, Pitchfork is as well.  Good luck.  Remember me when you become famous.

The Sword are at the very top of my list of anticipated albums by local bands, so I'm really thrilled to finally have a single to share.  That's right, today I'm bringing the metal.  Don't worry though, you're certainly more ready than you think.  The headbang-enthusiasts will release Warp Riders, which is their third LP, on August 24 via Kemado.  Enjoy.

:The Sword - Tres Brujas:  This track is kind of tricky.  It's full of power riffs and pounding drums, which is surely what you're expecting (at the very least), but it's also fairly groovy and probably their most accessible effort to date.  In other words, they seem to have found a nice balance without really sacrificing their heavy ways, and that means it's time to let all the wimpy kids know it's OK to come out and play with The Sword.  Spread the word.
