Today's Quick Mention:  Don't forget that I'll be celebrating the 4th of July weekend by not worrying about the site, so the usual content found around here won't start back until Monday.  Also, if you're in Austin you should probably go see Trail Of Dead at the Beauty Bar tonight.

And now, let's bring this week to a close with one more EP.  That's 20 artists from me in four days!  Aren't you just overwhelmed and thrilled?  I hope so.  Enjoy.

:Frankie Rose And The Outs - Little Brown Haired Girls:  Vivian Girls, The Splinters, Dum Dum Girls, a Chin Chin reissue and now this quartet - this year has been littered with a ton of stuff for those who love fuzzy pop music made by the female persuasion.  Honestly though, I could make use a few more similar efforts.  I just love that particular sound for no other reason than it's fun to listen to.  Slumberland will release the band's self titled effort on September 21.

:Black Lips - Best Napkin I Ever Had:  I just shared a song from this band not too long ago (it was called Before You Judge Me), but the band is already back with something equally good, and you need to hear it.  Here's hoping you're in the mood for something that may make you want to set something on fire.  The band has a split EP with Pierced Arrows coming out on July 6 via Scion A/V.

:Fol Chen - The Holograms:  This band's debut wasn't as thoroughly impressive as I hoped it would be, so I have to admit that I'm hoping the follow-up will come through for me.  So far, I'd say it's on the right path.  In Ruins was a great lead single, and now this track is reaffirming how good Fol Chen can be at electronic pop wizardy.  Part II: The New December will be released by Asthmatic Kitty on July 6.

:Wilson's Reservoir - Bullets:  Lately, I've found myself less attracted to alt-country acts like this, but there's something very appealing about this track.  Maybe it's Ben Wilson's inspired croon or perhaps it's the breakneck pace that the music moves along to.  Whatever it is, I like it, and I think the full length has the potential to be a rollicking good time.  The act's self titled debut just came out this past Tuesday.

:Murder Mystery - I Am Here (If You Are):  Unless you're a giant monster, you're probably going to find this song to be what can only be described as adorable.  Vocalist/drummer Laura has a very sweet voice and it's only enhanced by the very simple and the 80s-like arrangement that's effortlessly joyful.  Not sure when they'll have an official new release, so stay tuned for more info.
