Today's Quick Mention:  Yikes.  I honestly don't think I even assumed that Vampire Weekend could manage to sell 124,000 copies of anything in a single week.  Or ever, actually.  Feel free to enlighten me on exactly what I'm missing when it comes to this band.

A couple of years back a duo by the name of Georgie James put out a fantastic retro pop record, and then promptly broke up.  Now, the lady half of the band, Laura Burhenn has moved on and started a solo project that I'm hoping will stick around a bit longer than GJ did.  Look for The Mynabirds' What We Let Lose In The Fire We Gain In The Flood on Saddle Creek in late April.  Enjoy.

:The Mynabirds - Numbers Don't Lie:  "Baby/If you want to be right/I will let you be right"  Despite being easily tagged with the words retro and pop, I have to say that this isn't really anything like Georgie James.  In fact, it feels and sounds like a modern soul track, which is a fairly surprising turn of events.  This one will be sticking with me (and probably you) for a while.
