Today's Quick Mention:  Be sure to drop by tomorrow and witness Dan Corbin's introductory post here at SOTO!  He'll be helping John Michael cover anything and everything around Austin, which means every Wednesday you can expect something related to the local music scene.  Awesome, right?

With a a second straight entry that deals with another one of their artists, I can only assume that Barsuk has somehow managed to take control of me.  Oh well.  At least Rocky Votolato couldn't have a more different sound than Phantogram.  Expect to see the veteran (and Texas-born) singer/songwriter put out his third solo effort, True Devotion, on February 23.  Enjoy.

:Rocky Votolato - Red River:  I hate to say it, but I did approach this with a "if you've heard one Rocky song, you've heard them all" kind of mindset.  But, of course, that was a wrong move on my part, as this turned out to be him in an obviously comfortable and inspired state.  Can't wait to get a hold of the new LP so that I can see if he has totally moved on from the almost too-pretty folk tunes that littered his previous releases.
