Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

The Baster, which stars Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman, is apparently getting a name change.  No word yet on what it might switch to.

Speaking of name changes, Disney’s Rapunzel is now Tangled.  Their reasoning was pretty much a ramble about nothing, so who knows why the decision was made.

It looks as though Vin Diesel is going to continue visiting old franchises.  He and director David Twohy have begun actual work on a third Riddick film.

Neil Marshall’s Centurion has a trailer.  I hadn’t previously heard of the film, but it looks pretty entertaining.

Kevin Costner will direct and star in A Little War Of Our Own.  The film is said to follow a sheriff who is trying to keep his small town from erupting in violence.

The Losers
has been pushed from April 9 to June 4.

Roland Emmerich is planning to adapt Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy into three films.  He is also looking at doing them all in 3D CG.

Toy Story 3
has a new trailer.  It’s awesome.

Rumor has it that Christopher Nolan has been brought on by Warner Bros. to be an advisor on a Superman reboot.

Tom Cruise has finally been confirmed for
Mission Impossible 4.

Martin Campbell has added Tim Robbins to the cast of Green Lantern.

The makers of 24 are still planning to follow season eight with something for the big screen.

Bradley Cooper may be close to re-teaming with Joe Carnahan for The Grey, which is about a group of pipeline works who crash in Alaska and must survive.

Amy Herkerling (Clueless) will direct Alicia Silverstone in a vampire romantic comedy called Vamps.

Russell Brand will star in an untitled comedy for Warner Bros.  It sounds very Mighty Ducks-esque, as it sees Brand playing a soccer star who gets into trouble and then has to coach a pee wee team.

Brand’s next flick, Get Him To The Greek now has a trailer.  It has a couple of funny moments.

Bill Condon has lined up a new musical titled The Song Is For You.  No real details on the film are available yet.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan will star in The Unblinking Eye, which follows a journalist who seeks out a homicide detective that has become a recluse after almost getting killed by a serial killer.

Penelope Cruz is in negotiations to join the cast of Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The Leaves Of Grass trailer is out now.  I think it looks great.

Cate Blanchett is looking to join Hanna.  As mentioned last week, Eric Bana has already been cast.

20th Century Fox is moving forward with Mr. And Mrs. Jones.  The film is said to follow two young agents who are setup as a fake married couple after they graduate from training.

Sam Worthington will star in The Fields, which is about a detective investigating a slew of unsolved murders in Texas.

Tyrese Gibson has come out and said that a third Transformers has a start date.  Of course, he couldn’t share when it is.

In case you missed the Prince Of Persia TV spot, see it here.
