Today's Quick Mention:  Don't forget that the the Budos Band will be bringing their glorious soul sound to the Mohawk this Saturday, August 21.  Tickets are only $10!  Unless, of course, you can warp right past the door guy and into the venue.  Then it's totally free.

5 songs.  All for you.  Enjoy.

:Sex Bob-omb - We Are Sex Bob-omb:  Scott Pilgrim Vs The World is pretty much on its way to bombing (it only made a shade over 10 million in its opening weekend), but I absolutely loved the movie and, in particular, the music that populated it.  So, listen to this noisy rock anthem and then transport your ass from the couch at home to a seat in a theater.  Immediately!  The soundtrack to the movie is available now, and it is rather awesome.

:Colleen Green - Worship You:
Perky.  I don't exactly know why, but when I listen to this fuzzy piece of pop that's the word that immediately starts to bounce around in my head.  I think it might have something to do with the upbeat nature of the track.  Anyhow, Colleen is super indie and too cool for us all, so she has a cassette out.  Feel free join me in waiting for a release that's remotely practical.

:Kyle Andrews - Kangaroo:  Here's an artist you probably don't realize you've heard before.  He currently has a very catchy tune called You Always Make Me Smile that's featured in a Holiday Inn commercial.  So where's that particular track?  On the new Kangaroo EP.  I, however, think this one is a little more infectious.  If you want something sugary sweet then be sure to pick up the effort on August 31 via Elephant Lady Records.

:Yellow Ostrich - Mary:  If five songs aren't enough and you'd prefer to start your week off with a ton of free music then look no further than this band.  They have all kinds of stuff (including a Morgan Freeman-themed EP) for you to download over at their Bandcamp page, and it's all just as lo-fi as this hazy track.  Just remember to take your headphones and a chunk of time with you.

:Eternal Summers - Pogo:  It's entirely possible that I've just been missing the point, but until this track came along I didn't quite understand what all the blogs of the world saw in this act.  Actually, I'm not even sure I fully "get" it now.  I just know that this garage rock gem is as fun and catchy as it gets.  Silver, which is the band's debut full length, is due September 28 on Kanine Records.
