Time for your weekly notable news update!  Below you'll find a slew of sentences meant to provide a brief glimpse of what's been going on over the past week in movieland.  If something leaves you desperate for more info then my advice is to do a little extra research on one or all of the following fantastic sites:  Latino Review, Dark Horizons, Ain't It Cool News, CHUD and/or JoBlo.  Now, read on!

Movie News Rundown

There's a rumor floating around that says Christopher Waltz (Inglorious Basterds) is being looked at the play The Lizard in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.

Warner Bros. is reportedly already planning out a Green Lantern trilogy.  The first film hits theaters next summer.

There's a Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark teaser out, and it's fairly creepy.

Tom Cruise is all signed up for Brad Bird's Mission Impossible 4, but he has reportedly had to do so a much smaller salary.

The first trailer for Unstoppable looks pretty ridiculous.  Should be fun.

David Fincher is looking to add Stellan Skarsgard (Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End) to the cast of Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

Ridley Scott is said to be looking at trying to adapt The Forever War.  The novel follows humanity in a war with an alien species.

F. Gary Gray will direct Hair Of The Dog.  The movie is said to follow a business man who gets stuck in a blackmail scheme that could cause harm to his family.

The trailer for Bran Nue Dae is kind of ridiculous, but I'd watch the movie.

DJ Caruso has begun work on adapting the video game Dead Space.

The Jackass movies have never been my thing, but seeing one in 3D might be a good time.  First trailer is here.

Stephen Sommers is coming back to direct the GJ Joe sequel.

Will Ferrell is said to have signed on to Casa De Mi Padre (House Of My Father).  The supposed comedy will be in Spanish with English subtitles.  No, I have no idea how that will work.

Teens everywhere can rejoice!  The Burlesque trailer is here.  Sad.

Kurt Russell will star in the sports film Touchback.  The movie sounds like the usual former athlete gets a second chance kind of thing.

There's a quick teaser for The Avengers out.  Not much to it, but worth a moment of your time.

Jack Bender (Lost) may direct Moscow, which is the next movie based on the Jack Ryan character.

Jason Reitman and Diabo Cody may team up again for Young Adult.  The film would star Charlize Theron as a woman trying to reconnect with her high school love.

Tony Scott is now attached to direct an adaptation of Mark Millar's Nemesis.  The comic is a bit like Batman, but instead of being a hero, the main character is a bad guy billionaire who hunts the world's best cops and tries to avenge the death of his parents.

McG may direct the adaptation of R.I.P.D.  The story deals with a young cop who gets killed and decides to join God's police force.  Ryan Reynolds is still attached to star.

Barry Munday has a trailer.  Could be a nice indie flick.

Guy Pearce and Maggie Grace will star in Lockout.  Written by Luc Besson, the film deals with a man who can only gain his freedom if he's able to rescue the President's daughter from an outer space prison that's been overrun by its inmates.

Rumor has it that Quentin Tarantino will direct the reboot of The Shadow.

Despite saying he had other commitments, Robert Rodriguez is said to be close to signing a deal to direct the adaptation of Deadpool.

Whoa.  The trailer for Catfish is damn good.
