Today's Quick Mention: Did you guys
catch MGMT on SNL? I didn't (I only watched
them do Flash Deliriumhere),
but Twitter was lit up with people calling the
performance bland and railing against the new album.
I've never liked them live, but I do think
Congratulations is a pretty neat listen.
Thoughts?
Not sure if you fine folks remember me sharing some
music from The School (it was about a year ago), but
they're a good pop act and I was pretty happy to get
an email last week with their new album attached to
it. The full length is titled Loveless
Unbeliever, and it was just recently slapped on
store shelves by Minty Fresh Records. Enjoy.
:The
School - Is He Really Coming Home?:
To be honest, there isn't anything here you haven't heard
before from acts like Camera Obscura and/or Belle And
Sebastian. That isn't necessarily a bad thing,
especially since this is impressively warm and infectious,
but you should definitely not click play with the hope that
your mind will be blown by some new and original sound.
It just won't happen. Have fun singing-a-long though.
