Today's Quick Mention: Don't forget
that Psych Fest 3 starts on Friday at the Mohawk.
The
lineup
looks pretty good, so if you dig that style of music
you should definitely try to go. My plan is to
try and at least make it to see some of bands on
Saturday (damn you, busy schedule).
I don't know what they've been up to the last couple
of years, but it would appear that The Magic Numbers
are ready to stage a comeback into the world of
overly warm and endearing indie pop (that's
borderline guilty pleasure). Look out for
The Runaway, which is the band's third full
length, on June 7 via Heavenly Recordings.
Enjoy.
:The
Magic Numbers - The Pulse:
Admittedly, this is one ridiculous track. Romeo
Stordart softy croons as though this might be the last thing
he ever gets to sing, the very dominant string section just
begs to have a 12-minute long climax of pain and longing,
and there's talk about the moon and stars aligning.
It's all crazy. But fun (for me anyway) to listen to.
My advice is to put it on when no one's around. That
way you can dramatically flail around on the floor as you
sing-a-long.
