Today's Quick Mention: This Saturday is
Record Story Day! I hope you plan on going.
I will definitely be out and about, and I will
surely spend way too much money. Email me or
hit me up on Twitter if you're interested in meeting
up and celebrating vinyl.
I should probably start calling this The Forgiveness
EP, as I only tend to post it up when work (and
sometimes other things) prevents me from doing a
podcast during the weekend. Oh well.
Enjoy.

Vandervelde - Wave Country:
First of all, I didn't realize that Vandervelde and Secretly
Canadian had already put out a new full length. I
thought it was hitting store shelves later in the summer.
Secondly, this song kind of weirds me out. I like it,
can't get it out of my head, but its got this semi-70s glam
thing going on that's a bit unexpected. Is all of
Learn How To Hang like this? Can't say I'll get
angry if it is.

Wolf Crier - Crutch And Cane:
Because Jagjaguwar didn't already have a killer enough
roster, they've gone out and added this Minneaoplis duo
(half of which used to be in The Wars Of 1812). I
haven't gotten around to fully checking out the full length,
but this melodic gem has been ruling me the last few days
and I'm anxious to hear what else they have to offer. Inter-Be
will be out on May 25.
:Bandulus
- Ska, Reggae And Soul:
I normally hate it when colleagues happen to be in a band
(kind of hard to sit next to someone who knows you don't
like their music), but my co-worker/friend Jeremy Pena is a
talented guy and I'm happy to mention the Bandulus here at
SOTO. It's a bit different stuff than what we normally
offer around here, but it's infinitely accessible and full
of warmth and passion. You'll like it. Watch out
for Ska, Reggae And Soul on iTunes later this month.
The band also has a couple of sets at the Austin Reggae
Festival this Friday.
:Thee
Oh Sees - I Was Denied:
These days it isn't too hard to find a zillion and one
artists that have a noise pop (or garage rock, if you're
tired of noise pop) sound, but that doesn't mean you can't
acknowledge the ones that are doing it really well, and Thee
Oh Sees certainly are. I hope the full length is as
fun as this track. In The Red will release Warm
Slime on May 11.
:Deer
Tick - 20 Miles:
Deer Tick have been on a hell of roll for about the last
year and a half, and it looks as though they're looking to
keep it going instead of taking a break. I like that
plan. It's a smart move on their part, and it means I
get more new music. Everybody wins. Now listen
to this sincere song and make a note to pick up The Black
Dirt Sessions via Partisan on June 8.
