For some reason or another, I'm all of the sudden garnering
a fair bit of interest from a few of the record labels that
used to shun me. It's sort of nice to know that maybe my
stuff is getting out there, but on the same note, I feel as
if with the attention I need to write a bit more about the
label's bigger stuff. It's weird. Fear not though
faithful readers, even with the growing shadow of popularity
heavy on my shoulders, I'll not lead you astray.
As always, thanks for reading.
Who:
Woods Why
I Like It:
It's Woods, but acoustic. I saw this group of talented
fellas in SF a few weeks back and where I expected the show
to be slow, and possibly even boring, it was an absolute 'splosion
of psych-infused folk. There was even a man on the floor
with a wall of pedals and a microphone. I giggled with
glee. This on the other hand is the lighter side of Woods.
No fuzzy distortion here, just jangly folk guitar and the
lead man's haunting voice.

- To Clean (Acoustic):
Who: Box Elders Why
I Like It:
These guys just released a full album and I could not be
happier with the way they mixed their jangles (two times
I've used that word this week, folks) with distortion in to
a sort of sonic-blast of fun fun times. Seriously, this
record is on full time at the Sander's Castle right now.
The neighbors are complaining, my beautiful girlfriend is in
tears - all because I can not stop listening to this album.
Someone help, it's starting to hurt.

Elders - Jackie Wood:
Who: The Antlers Why
I Like It:
It's a little somber for my recent sunny disposition, but
there's a lot to say for a tinge of emotional gloom injected
into your blazing day of smiling. And, really, this is a
fantastic portrayal of sadness. I just want to curl up in
to a ball and drink chamomile tea and have a golden
retriever puppy lick my feet. It's that kind of sadness.
:The
Antlers - Kettering:
Who: Indian Wars Why
I Like It:
A week doesn't go by where I don't need a delicious,
steaming slice of garage rock jet-packed into my stomach.
This, a demo may I say, is that steaming slice. Dirty and
grimy - it's the type of song that makes you want to wash
your hands after listening to it.
:Indian
Wars - If You Want Me (Demo):
Who: The Cave Singers Why
I Like It:
Uh, it's the fucking Cave Singers, and everything Pete Quirk
does with his dirty little beard and his scuffed up hat just
makes me want to jump up and down, run down to the sweet
bluegrass of North Carolina and light a cig and rock in a
rocking chair. This track is a bit more sea-shanty like,
but that's okay, I like captain's hats and peg legs.

Cave Singers - Beach House:
