Today's Quick Mention:  There's a slew of good shows this weekend, so if you want to get out I recommend Throw Me The Statue at the Mohawk/Chairlift at Emo's tonight, Will Johnson at Space12/Drew Smith at Antone's tomorrow and Daniel Francis Doyle at Beerland on Sunday.  You can't go wrong!  I promise.

The NFL is back!  And in celebration of it today's artist is all about toughness and attitude.  OK, so doesn't exactly describe Russian Circles (especially if you've ever experienced how super nice they are), but they are awesome at being loud, and that'll do.  Their new effort, Geneva is due October 20 on Suicide Squeeze, and they'll be playing this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest.  Enjoy.

:Russian Circles - Malko:  While the band does occasionally take the standard instrumental route that asks for rather long, drawn out songs that slowly build up to a big climax, many times they choose to just throw you right in the middle of things.  Personally, I think that's when they're at their best, and as shown here, if you're ready and willing to roll with the punches you'll find something that's incredibly satisfying.  Have fun rocking, friends.
