Today's Quick Mention: There's some absolutely huge
shows in town this weekend, but I think
I'll be staying in and resting up so that I'll be able to yell my head off
at the Dallas Cowboys game on Sunday. Sorry, Black Angels, Butthole
Surfers/Peaches and Gogol Bordello/Apostle Of Hustle.
Proving that everything is worth giving a listen no matter how questionable
it seems, today's act is a good one that willingly call themselves
Total Babe and just so happen to be centered around Clara Salyer, who is
only 17. I can't even remember what I was doing at that age!
It's ridiculous. At any rate, the trio's Heat Wave EP is
available at this very moment. Pick up a copy. Enjoy.

Babe - Gary Coleman:
There actually isn't a song on the entire EP that I don't
like, but if I had to pick a favorite it would definitely be
this charming gem, which somehow comfortably straddles the
fence between lo-fi and the world of lush /elaborate
arrangements. Also, and this could just be me, but the
vocals remind me of Lisa Loeb, and I find it entrancing.
Thoughts?
