As you probably already know, the Austin Film Festival is currently underway.  I probably won't do full reviews of all the films I see, but expect some sort of report once it's all said and done next week.

News time!  Read on.

 



- The Rundown -

Despite not having a cast (that anyone knows of), Mad Max 4 will apparently start shooting early next year.

Neil Blomkamp has joined up with Media Rights Capital to do his next sci-fi film.  No word yet on a title or plot.

As it turns out, Robert De Niro and Jude Law are not up for roles in Thor.

Jackie Chan has signed on to star in an updated version of the Shaolin Temple.

Nickelodeon has bought the rights to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.  They’re said to be planning a new TV show and a movie.

David Duchovny says he’s looking forward to possibly doing another X-Files movie.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire are said to have been cast in the remake of The Third Man, which is about a man who investigates the mysterious death of a close friend.

Anne Hathaway, Neil Patrick Harris and Rodrigo Santoro will all voice characters in Fox’s animated
Rio.  The movie is said to follow a macaw that leaves the comfort of his small town for Rio De Janeiro.

Michael Biehn is directing and starring in a film called the Blood Bond.  It’s said to be about a quest to save an Asian spiritual leader.

Justin Theroux will produce a comedy called Air Guitar.


30 Days Of Night: Dark Days
has started shooting.  The film is said to follow the Stella character as she gets the chance to get revenge on the vampire queen that ordered the assault on her Alaskan town.

Ralph Fiennes and Gerard Butler will star in an adaptation of Coriolanus.

Chow Yun-Fat will star in the Let The Bullets Fly, which is about a triad leader in the 1920s.

Angelina Jolie and Leonardo DiCaprio may sign on to star in Ridley Scott’s Gucci.  The film is said to follow the family-owned fashion label during the 70s and 80s.

Laura Dern has joined the cast of Little Fockers.

Shane Black has come out and said that he’s writing a script for Doc Savage.

Dylan Baker will return as Dr. Connors in Spider-Man 4.
