Today's Quick Mention:  Despite really hoping it would somehow happen, Bob Nastanovich recently told Quietus that there won't be any touring or new material coming out of the Pavement reunion.  Apparently, Stephen Malkmus was only down for doing a very temporary gathering.  Bummer.

Well, it would seem that the big indie labels of the world are after my heart this week.  Yesterday there was a new Barsuk artist, and today I have a recent addition to Saddle Creek's roster.  The name of the band is Old Canes, they're fueled by
Chris Crisci (The Appleseed Cast) and they have a brand new record titled Feral Harmonic that's due next Tuesday.  Enjoy.

:Old Canes - Little Bird Courage:  "When I'm thirsty/You are the fountain/In the face of danger/I'm not afraid"  This song moves at such a quick pace that you'd swear Chris was trying to wrap it up and move on to something else, but I think it's actually because he's anxious to fit in all the lyrics and sounds that are bouncing around in his head.  Don't worry if acoustic-driven music is usually beyond your realm of patience, this was built to impress.
