Today's Quick Mention:  Well, this is the last regular music post of the year.  I'll relax the rest of this week, and then as we make our way through December I'll have my top 50 songs, top 25 albums, a film wrap up and year-end lists from Noah, John Michael and Leah.  It will all be awesome.  Trust me.

Last year the SOTO crew recommended an assortment of holidays songs for you to head into Thanksgiving with, but this time around I decided to keep it simple with a track from Surfer Blood.  Or, as I prefer to call them, 2009's final buzz band.  Astro Coast, which is their debut, will be released via Kanine Records on January 19th.  Enjoy.

:Surfer Blood - Take It Easy:  So what's with all the hype?  Well, to put it blunt - they make the sort of fuzzy (but not necessarily noisy) pop tunes the kids love these days.  This song, which is probably my favorite so far, is surprisingly breezy and quirky with its falsetto-filled ways, so I think you may want to also chalk up some of the buzz to versatility.  Look for them to have the first great album of 2009.
