Today's Quick Mention:  Sorry for the disappearing act this weekend.  Yesterday I was in Arlington watching the Cowboys play, and then on Saturday I spent most of the day trying to find drivers and other crap to make my PC work again after I formatted it.  Oh well.

Here's some music that would have been in the podcast.  Enjoy.

:Yeasayer - Ambling Alp:  My love for Yeasayer has only ever come out a great appreciation for the highly entertaining 80s-tastic show that they put on, and not what they actually record and release.  However, this first single off their next LP sounds as though they may be closer to capturing the zeal of their live performances, and I'm anxious to hear more.  Secretly Canadian will release Odd Blood on February 19.

:The Watson Twins - U N Me:  I'll probably never forget walking into a room at SXSW two years, watching one song from this duo and then promptly leaving because it was the most boring thing I'd ever seen.  Yet, here they are with their second album since then and before I even hit play I knew it would be a pretty little pop gem that I'd love.  Way to be opposite of Yeasayer, ladies.  Talking To You, Talking To Me is due February 9.

:The Seedy Seeds - Drive Me To The Center:  First of all, I hate the name of this band.  It just sounds like something a bad garage rock act would call themselves.  Secondly, this song is fantastic.  I absolutely love how they sort of plucked and put together some of the better parts of indie pop from the last handful of years.  Their debut is titled Count The Days, and it is currently available for you to snatch up and own forever.

:Devendra Banhart - Can't Help But Smiling:  This guy has always been a bit too random and out there for me, so I wasn't expecting much out of this when I stumbled across it.  But, because the world enjoys mocking me when it comes to these sorts of things, this is actually whimsical in the all ways a quirky pop tune should be.  What Will We Be? was released last week.  Pick it up and let me know how accessible it is.

:Bear In Heaven - Lovesick Teenager:  I don't have a clue about what the press release means when it notes that this group has "unbuttoned sound and realigned it", but I do know why this track has been on quite a few blogs as of late - it's good (or great if you really love any and all music that was created during the 80s).   Beast Rest Forth Mouth is out now on Hometapes.
