Today's Quick Mention:  Since I'm on the verge of packing up and moving into a new place I won't be venturing out at all this weekend, but if I had the time I would certainly check out the Chaos In Tejas shows that'll be happening all over town.  Here's some more information.

This has been a weird, oddly paced week for me, which means that I need a bit of quirk in the form of Nurses (they've been on the site before) to help bring it to a proper close.  The Portland-based act just signed to the already loaded Dead Oceans roster and will release a new album titled Apple's Acre on August 4.  I think it will be good.  Enjoy.

:Nurses - Caterpillar Playground:  Aaron Chapman and John Bowers recently added a percussionist named James Mitchell to the lineup, and judging by this song it would seem that he has given them a different edge.  It's still essentially quirky pop music, but not having to solely rely on hooks and groovy bass lines allows them to shift gears and keep things interesting.  I can't wait to hear the whole disc if it's as intricately crafted as this.
