Today's Quick Mention:  Tonight I'll be seeing the highly anticipated Terminator Salvation, and I have to admit that I'm kind of nervous about it.  I hope it's good.

Here's an EP to help get the week going.  Enjoy.

:Raised By Robots - True Romance:   If you only listen to the swirling two minutes that make up the beginning of this track it's easy to imagine it working only as a instrumental effort, but I think the atmospheric nature of the vocals add a lot and really make it worth remembering.  The band is based out of San Francisco/Oakland, so be sure to watch out for them touring the West Coast in support of their recently released Disorganization Will Save Us All EP.

:Boxharp - The Green:  I find it interesting when producers actually release efforts of their own, so I was more than happy to check out Scott Solter's (he has worked with John Vanderslice, Okkervil River, the Mountain Goats and many more) work  as Boxharp.  Scott doesn't actually do the vocals here (it's Wendy Solter with some rather ethereal work), but he is responsible for the unsurprisingly well crafted arrangement.  Way to be good for you, Scott!  No release date was mentioned in the email, but I do know that this is the title track.

:The Twilight Sad - Reflection Of The Television:  It's been a couple of years since the Twilight Sad's debut Fourteen Autumns And Fifteen Winters, but I still remember (probably because I still listen to it) the excellent single That Summer, At Home I Had Become The Invisible Boy.  This song isn't as noisy, but it does continue to showcase their penchant for epic and brooding pop tunes.  Not exactly sure when they'll be putting out Forget The Night Ahead, but my guess is late summer.

:Sinkane - Apache Beat:  This guy, who spends much of this time touring as the drummer for Caribou, Of Montreal and Born Ruffians, has somehow found the time to ready a follow-up to last year's Color Voice.  I've only heard this song, which is six minutes of beat driven snazziness, so I don't know if all of the new full length is instrumental or not.  I'm hoping it isn't, but that's mostly because I loved the song Autobahn (from the last album) so much.  The self titled effort will be out later in the year.

:Cage The Elephant - Tiny Little Robots:  "When you gonna fire it up!"  The first four tracks in today's EP aren't exactly what I would call body movers, so I figured this Kentucky-based band and the rambunctious nature of this song (it's off of their recently released self titled full length) could do the trick.  Just make sure you're ready to experience an incessant need to ingest candy and run in circles until you get dizzy.
