As some of you may have noticed, there's a giant Twitter update widget on the front page of the site.  That's where you'll find all of my SXSW updates (i.e. where I'm at, what I'm seeing, how good/bad something is, etc), so either sign up to follow me or keep an eye on that box.  Pictures will be posted the day after.  Hooray for live blogging!

Here's part one of my 10 Artists I Must See At SXSW.  Enjoy.

By the way, the best way to find where the artists below are playing is at SCHED.  Just go there and use the search engine to discover everywhere they'll be.  Easy breezy!

:Cursive - From The Hips:  Yes, the new album, Mama, I'm Swollen, is good and I am anxious to hear how songs on it translate live.  But, at the end of the day Cursive is one of my favorite bands of all-time, and I haven't seen them perform in about two years.  That's far too long.  Consider this one a can't-wait pick.

:The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart - Young Adult Friction:  This is such a trendy selection, but I'm being totally honest when I say that I've spent the last week absolutely loving their self titled album.  Its definitely one of the better efforts to come out in a good while, and I want to experience it live.

:Thao Nguyen And Get Down Stay Down - Bag Of Hammers:  Those of you who spent a lot of time reading SOTO last year are probably wondering why I'm still fixated on this act, and all I have to say to that is NEW material.  They've been putting together a follow-up to my top album of last year, We Brave Bee Stings And All, and I must hear some of it.

:Fol Chen - Cable TV:  Part 1: John Shade, Your Fortune's Made didn't turn out to be as awesome as I hoped it would, but I'm still very interested in seeing this band play.  Who knows?  Maybe some of the tracks that I didn't find too appealing on the album will end up blowing my socks off in a live setting.  Either way, part of the fun of SXSW is taking chances.

:And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead - Bells Of Creation:  This local act absolutely destroyed me at Fun Fun Fun Fest (as I've said about 100 times), so I'm so very excited at the possibility of them delivering another thunderous performance.  I'd say this is can't-wait for me as well.
