Today's Quick Mention:  Be sure to enter the Thermals contest that I posted up on the front page yesterday!  If your name is drawn on Friday you could net a digital copy of the band's new album and a pretty snazzy shirt.  That's good stuff, especially if you're broke and like shiny new things.

One of my favorite labels, Secret Canadian sent me an email on Friday that carried word of a new full length from Foreign Born.  Usually, anything from them gets me excited, but a taste this early in March from an album that doesn't come out until late June makes me think they're being impatient because it's awesome.  Remember the title Person To Person!  Enjoy.

:Foreign Born - Vacationing People:  "It's been said that Foreign Born is an anthem band without "the" fist-pumping anthem, which may be true. And this is OK, because the trade-off is for an album far more cerebral and sustaining. The thing with summer anthems is that they only last a summer, Foreign Born delivers the soundtrack for the backyard BBQ of the ages."  After I had given this gem a good five or six listens I saw this little spiel at the bottom of their press release, and I realized it was exactly what I was thinking.  These guys make memorable tunes that fill the room with the sort of big, warm sounds that good weather and even better times demand.  Feel free to put this on, open the windows and kick back in your favorite chair.
