Today's Quick Mention: The wife (aka Dill Dozer of the
Rhinestone Cowgirls) is having her first ever roller derby bout this Sunday
at the Austin Convention Center at 7pm. She'll be playing the talented
Hellcats, so if you're in town I need you to come out and help me cheer her
on. Or else.
I've already confessed my undying love for Amble Down Records a few times,
so I won't bother with that again. Instead, I'll just say that while I
was interested in hearing the upcoming Daredevil Christopher Wright record,
In Difference To Broken Back, I wasn't exactly in can't-wait
mode. That, of course, has now changed. Thanks
Said The
Gramophone! Enjoy.
:The
Daredevil Christopher Wright - Clouds:
Things were terrible at work this week (people being let go,
pay cuts being hand out), so having a six-minute plus indie
rock tune - with flourishes of folk and vintage pop mixed in
- certainly helps me zone out. Well, at least that's
how it was for the first listen. After that it seemed
to only be about falling in love with the detail and care
(which was probably inspired by the producer, Bon Iver's
Justin Vernon) that goes into every single part of it.
As is simply the case sometimes, you'll want a good pair of
headphones for this.
