Today's Quick Mention:  So I'm on the lookout for some recommendations on a nice pair of shelf speakers and a subwoofer to go with a stereo system that I'm building.  It'll mainly be playing vinyl, and if possible I'd rather not spend a zillion dollars.  Discuss!

About a month ago I prefaced a new Modest Mouse release by saying that while their last LP wasn't great, I still liked it.  Well, it would seem that I'm in the same boat when it comes to the Satellite Skin (presented in video form below) 7", and I don't get it.  Why all the hate for a band that's still doing pretty damn good?  Anyhow, I have a track from another upcoming 7".  Look for it June 23.  Enjoy.

:Modest Mouse - Autumn Beds:  "They pulled up the welcome mat so many times/They hurt their back"  I wouldn't say that this is as large of a throwback to the older days of Modest Mouse as Satellite Skin was (to me, anyway), but it's not as mainstream pop as a song like Dashboard either.  To be honest, it's a fairly bare bones affair with a bit of twang, some nice percussion and a friendly reminder that Isaac Brock is a great vocalist.  I dig it.
