Today's Quick Mention:  Despite really wanting to, I didn't manage to make it to either of the shows that I recommended on Friday.  Anyone who went care to report back on what took place with Vive Voce and/or White Rabbits?

While everyone seemingly spent the weekend deciding that Discovery was going to be the next best thing since last weekend, I was listening to Calexico.  Yes, I realize that's not as excited as choosing a new fad, but the song below is from a tribute album to the late Chris Gaffney (Hacienda Brothers), which is way more noble.  And stuff.  Man Of Somebody's Dreams is out now on Yep Roc.  Why hasn't it been talked about more?  Enjoy.

:Calexico - Frank's Tavern:  I wish I could say I'm familiar enough with Chris Gaffney to note what Calexico's twist on this song is compared to the original version, but I have no clue.  So what to expect?  Honestly, this sounds like the Calexico that you've been listening to for years - the horns are perfectly placed, the pace is just right and Joey Burns' seasoned voice is a joy to the ears.   In other words, it would appear that they made the track their own, which is certainly not a bad thing.  Grab headphones for this!
