Today's Quick Mention: My plans for this weekend are centered around the couch, but if I were to get out I think I'd hit up Belaire and Red Leaves at the Parlor on Saturday.  Should be fun.

Despite wanting to geek out about Lord Of The Rings during my random conversation with Elijah Wood at ACL last year, I (like a good music nerd) asked about his label, Simian Records, and found out that he had just signed the fantastic Bryan Scary And The Shredding Tears.  At the time it was great news, but I didn't think it'd be almost a year before I got any new music!  Oh well.  The Mad Valentines EP is due out October 27.  Enjoy.

:Bryan Scary And The Shredding Tears - Andromeda's Eyes:  I realized long ago that if it comes from this band then it's probably going to be bizarre.  Yet, even knowing that I'll admit that I was still a little surprised when this strange gem started blaring out of my speakers.  Expect to have a blast if you can keep up with its breakneck pace and Scary's frantic (and oddly entrancing) vocals.  And if just doesn't make any sense?  Just keep listening.  At some point you'll get it, and it will be then that you will thank me.
