Today's Quick Mention:  If you happen to not have any plans for tonight then I strongly recommend that you make the effort to get out and join me at the Parish for Stellastarr*, Wild Light and Experimental Aircraft.  It'll be way fun.  And stuff.  See you there?

Believe it or not, I was actually a little excited for the weekend to come to an end so that I could get your week started right with a duo from the UK who call themselves The Big Pink.  From what I gather they've been getting all sorts of buzz as of late, and their debut, A Brief History Of Love, is expected to be a real gem.  It's out September 15 on 4AD.  Enjoy.

:The Big Pink - Dominos:  A lot of people seemed to be stuck on the moody, 80s-esque ways of a track called Velvet (you can check it out in video form below), but I think I actually prefer the expansive, beat-driven pop that is this summer anthem.  Although, I will admit that I'm hoping that the duo's debut is full of tracks that feature not just those two particular approaches, but a few other snazzy ones as well.  Variety is nice.
