Today's Quick Mention: To be honest, I was mainly focused on
experiencing the great Rodriguez at Austin City Limits this year, but I am
bummed out that I at least won't have the option of seeing the Beastie Boys,
who had to cancel because of health issues. Here's hoping MCA has a
quick recovery.
Aside from wanting to kick the Pitchfork interviewer right in the face for
acting semi-offended at Nick Thorburn's remarks about auto-tune, there's a
nice interview over at the
site
that talks a whole lot about the new Islands' album, Vapours. I
suggest you read it. The highly anticipated effort is the band's
third, and Anti- will release it come September 22. Enjoy.

- No You Don't:
It's a bit unorthodox for me, but I could probably care less
about what this band does from album to album. After
all, I've seen them get all weird (Creeper, which is
presented in video form below) and I've experienced them
doing what could be construed as mainstream modern rock (The
Arm), and I've really liked it all. Sure, that may come
from a love for all that remains of the momentarily-great
Unicorns, but I'd like to think it's because these guys are
good at whatever they want to be good at. Now get to
dancing, for now.
