Today's Quick Mention: Apart from Foreign Born and the Veils at
the Mohawk on Sunday, I don't think there's much on the show schedule this
weekend that's worth leaving the comfort of your couch for. But,
that's just me. Speak up if you know of something people should
attend.
Today's artist is Shonen Knife! If you don't know, the Japanese
all-female band has been making music for a whopping 27 years, which means
they've done all a band can do in regards to touring (played all over with
acts like Nirvana, Sonic Youth) and releasing albums (20+ LPs/EPs).
It's crazy. Watch out for their latest labor of love, Super Group,
on August 25. Enjoy.

At the every end of the band's press release for the new LP
there was a bolded message that said it "makes everyone
happy", so if the end of your week isn't looking too good
this will certainly pick you up and put a smile on your
face. Or something. Anyhow, the real question
you probably have is whether or not the ladies still have it
in them to make great pop-punk after almost three decades,
and to that I say yes. Play this one with the volume
way up.
