Today's Quick Mention: Holy Crap. The people handling the
next live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie are having an open
casting call
for martial arts experts. Obviously, those last three words don't
quite describe me, but that might not be the case with you. I say give
it a shot.
Despite being not-so-subtly advised yesterday to pick up the new Dead Weather
record (seriously, is there anywhere that ads for it do not live?), I did
manage to discover a new band by the name of Himalaya. The
Brooklyn-based group, which is made up former members of Asteroid #4 and
Three Four Tens, just released their self titled debut, and you should get
it. Enjoy.

- Melt Away:
The last few years have seen quite a few pop acts that are
more influenced by the 90s than anything else, so I don't
think it's too surprising that bands like this, Silversun
Pickups and more are starting to appear here and there with
an obvious appreciation for the distortion-filled
alternative rock that also spanned the decade. My only
request is that anyone who attempts said style must have at
least one song that's as good as this airy gem.
