Today's Quick Mention: I doubt I'll be making it to any shows
this week, but there are some great acts in town. Recommended: Pete
Yorn at La Zona Rosa on Tuesday, Tortoise at the Mohawk/Dredg at Emo's/Dirty
Projectors at Red 7 on Wednesday and Vega at Club DeVille on Friday.
Have fun choosing.
My original plan was to kick off the week with a five-song EP of glorious
proportions, but I couldn't manage to stop listening to the new single from
We All Have Hooks For Hands long enough to find four other artists.
Here's hoping you're ready for some commitment on a Monday. The
band's sophomore LP The Shape Of Energy is due October 13 on
Afternoon Records. Enjoy.

All Have Hooks For Hands - Made Up Of Tiny Lights:
Cymbals Eat Guitars and the Pomegranates have both put out
records this year that feature raw, over-energized indie
rock with big-time pop sensibilities, and I've had a bit of
trouble not listening to them every moment of every day.
This, unfortunately for me, sounds like more of the same,
which means there's no escaping these bands. I'm
hooked. Forever. Oh well.
