Today's Quick Mention: According to Google Maps it's about a
20-hour drive from Austin to
Eau Claire, Wisconsin. I'd say that's roughly 15 more then I'm up for,
which means I won't be Amble Down's awesome looking two-year anniversary
party
on February 28. Bummer. One of you better go for me.
On Monday I mentioned Maria Taylor and how she had readied a new LP without
Saddle Creek. Today, as fate would have it, features Broken Spindles
and the same exact theme. Although, I will say that this one isn't as
surprising since BS only has one member, the Faint's Joel Peterson, and it
makes sense for him to put out Kiss/Kick on the band's blank.wav.
Expect it February 17. Enjoy.

Spindles - Introvert:
"For me,
there has always been truth somewhere in the midst of
extremes, and lyrically, this is where I wanted to be -
open, honest, and truthful. " I saw this quote from
Joel in the press release and realized that it was also
appropriate in regards to the music, which over the course
of three records has certainly highlighted what sounds the
man is loving at the time. The first record was a
little all over and very Faint-like, the second was cleaner,
more electro-pop and, if judging by this song, it would
appear that all of those noisy acts out there have had an
impact. Count me as excited to hear what else is on
the disc.
