Sorry that
I'm getting the first news update of 2009 posted so late in
the day, but I've had some sort of wicked stomach thing that
has just been killing me. Here it is though, in all of
its glory. Read on.
- The Rundown -
Warner Bros and Fox have asked for the
Watchmen rights trial to be delayed so that they can try
to settle the case out of court.
Outside of some familiar faces being confirmed, not much
else about Spider-Man 4 is known. However,
there are plenty of rumors, and the latest says that Morbius
- a supernatural vampire sort of character - might be the
villain.
There's a rumor floating around that Warner Bros has decided
to put all of their DC properties on hold until they can
figure out a long-term plan.
Colin Ferrell has signed on to appear in Peter Weir's The
Way Back, which is about a group of engineers who escape
from a Siberian gulag in the 40s.
Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell are said to be playing the
villains in Iron Man 2. No word yet on exactly
which ones they'll be portraying though.
On another Rourke note, he has also been cast in Sylvester
Stallone's Expendables.
Leonardo DiCaprio's next big role will be in Beat The
Reaper. The movie is suppose to be about a mobster
who finds one of his former employees (DiCaprio) working in
a witness protection program as a doctor.
The sequel to Tron, aptly titled Tron, will
feature newcomer Garrett Hedlund in the lead role.
McG will follow-up his Terminator flick with a
prequel (Or is it a remake? I've seen both mentioned)
to 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea for Disney.
Danny Boyle has said that he isn't doing a Judge Dredd
remake.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have been cast as the Thompson
Twins in Tintin.
Jimmy Hayward (Horton Hears A Who!) has signed on to
direct the Jonah Hex adaptation. Josh Brolin is
still attached to star.
The Broken Lizard guys have let it be known that they are
currently writing a sequel to Super Troopers.
The plot isn't totally known, but it is suppose to have
something to do with the guys being recruited to patrol the
border between the US and Canada.
Thor has had its ending altered so that it will line
up better with the inevitable Avengers movie.
Jamie King has said that Frank Miller is almost done with
the script for Sin City 2.
John August has come out and confirmed rumors that the
Shazam! movie is dead.
