Today's Quick Mention:
Over the break
Lady Sovereign
released a new single titled I Got You Dancing. Personally, I
find it to be rather lacking, but I'd really like to know if you fine people
are digging it. Quench my thirst for information and leave a comment.
Much of my December was spent re-loving my favorites from 2008, but there
were a pair of free EPs from Quitzow and Setting Sun (they each feature some
of the same members) that almost made me dust off the keyboard early.
Quitzow's is called Animal Nature and Setting Sun's is Children Of
The Remix. Be sure to get them in their entirety at
Young Love Records.
Enjoy.

- Float:
Three or four
remixes and a b-side probably would have sufficed, but
Quitzow's EP actually features five brand spanking
new songs. I wouldn't necessarily say that there's a
huge difference between each of them, so if this gem's
quasi-experimental, electo-pop sound makes you sit up in
your seat then the rest of Animal Nature and its
dancey ways are certainly worth your time.

Sun - They're Calling:
Children Of The Remix, as I'm sure you expected, is
mostly packed with remixes. There is, however, one new
track and it is this fine number. From what I remember
much of the band's debut had a rather quiet sound, but I
have to admit that the brisk pace of this works well for
them. Likewise, the rearranging of their older, more
intimate tunes also turns out well, and like Quitzow's song
- they're worth the effort if you find this one appealing.
