Hello!  I, and the rest of the Side One: Track One family, have returned.  You won't notice any massive changes as we get things going in 2009, but I've got a couple of announcements coming up that I think you'll like.  On a related note, the About, Contact and Links pages have been updated.  Take a look!

Now, with all that out of the way, let's get started.  I've got a wealth of music - at least a good month's worth - to shove into your ears, and I'm anxious to get it going.

It's great to be back.  I missed you all.

Enjoy.

:An Horse - Postcards Considering that I greatly appreciate any act that's good at helping me forget that Sleater Kinney really did call it quits all those years ago, it's fitting that the first song in the first EP of 2009 is chalked full of that wonderful mid-90s rock sound.  The duo, who were discovered by Tegan And Sara, will physically release Rearrange Beds on March 17 via Mom And Pop Music Co., but if you want you can get it now on iTunes.

:Faunts - Feel.Love.Thinking.Of I can't really recall a time in which I've ever paid much attention to this band and the one bazillion remixes that seem to come with them, but this song, which is off their upcoming sophomore effort, is a nicely layered piece of electronic pop that won't leave my head.  I guess it's time to start paying attention, right?  Friendly Fire Recordings will put out Feel.Love.Thinking.Of on February 17.

:Alela Diane - White As Diamonds It really seems like forever ago that this woman jumped into my world and made the Grass Roots Records' Family Album compilation something to remember with one of the most entrancing folk songs I've ever heard.  This, as I expected it to be, is of the same quality.  Go grab your headphones.  To Be Still is set to hit store shelves on Feburay 17 courtesy of Rough Trade Records.

:B. Fleischmann - 24.12:  With some soothing vocal work and a lush electronic sound, this song starts out exactly like something from this guy should.  Then, as if to eloquently lighten the mood, a woman's voice chimes in with a quick bit about how her life is better because her "asshole" husband is dead.  Yes, you should be smiling at the one.  Angst Is Not A Weltanschauung is out on Morr Music now.

:The Sound Of Arrows - M.A.G.I.C. There's no way that I would have put up the first post of 2009 without something positively upbeat and catchy from Sweden, but I have to admit that I didn't expect for my inbox to produce an effort like this.  Talk about your involuntary flashbacks to a time when you spent all your time watching kid's TV programming.  The M.A.G.I.C. single will be out later this month on Labrador Records.
