Today's Quick Mention: We returned to Pluckers last night to
defend our win from last week, but due to some trivia member illnesses
(we're like a sports team now) we were unable to even place in the top
three. Next week will be better. Probably.
And, the trend of Saddle Creek mentions in 2009 continues with talk of
Cursive today. The act, which is honestly one of my favorites of
all-time, are returning with a new album titled Mama, I'm Swollen.
I thought their last effort, Happy Hollow, was a good one, but
sometimes I get the feeling I'm in the minority on that. Hopefully
this will bring people back back around. Enjoy.

- From The Hips:
One of the problems that I think people had with the last
album was that it was very pop and absolutely packed with a
ton of not-so-subtle socio-political messages. This,
while not as heavy or emo as earlier efforts like
Domestica or The Ugly Organ, is certainly more of
a fine balance of everything that they've done over the
years. It has some interesting indie rock moments,
there's some nicely placed pop details and Tim Kasher's
songwriting is as good as ever. I honestly can't wait
to hear what else is on the record. You should feel
the same way. Unless, of course, you hate the world.
