Today's Quick Mention:  You'll probably be too busy for the podcast tomorrow, so I'm saying Happy Valentine's Day now.  My gift recommendation is that you buy someone a box of chocolates, and then eat all the good pieces before you give it to them.  They'll probably really appreciate you looking out for their weight.

So, Starbucks apparently decided to round up a bunch of talented people (DeVotchKa, She And Him, Jem, etc) and have them do a compilation in honor of V-Day.  I haven't heard much of it (just Rogue Wave's cover of Maps, which is sort of odd), but Death Cab doing the Cure pretty much makes the disc worth the effort.  Sweetheart is available on iTunes now.  Enjoy.

:Death Cab For Cutie - Love Song (Cure Cover):  Honestly, if you've heard one version of Love Song then you've heard them all.  It's just one of those tracks that doesn't end up changing much from version to version, which is understandable since the original is pretty much perfect.  There just needs to be a good voice singing those incredible lyrics, and Ben Gibbard certainly has that.  I would guess it has zero chance of ever happening, but an album of Cure covers from this veteran act would probably make for a pretty good listen.
