Hello, hello, hello ... is there anybody out there?

It's been too long my friends and enemies.  I've been irresponsible, I've been lazy, I've been a downright disappointment to this fantastic site, and I'd like, for all it is worth, to apologize and then move right along to my usual lauding, skewering and jabbering.

Thus, sorry folks.  Here's four tracks I love, no misunderstood or bad this week, I just don't feel like negativity.

As, always thanks for reading.

Who/What:  Grooms - Dreamsucker
Where'd I Find It:  One of them swarthy PR folk sent it mah way.

Why I Like It: I've been wallowing in sunshine pop for months now, and last week, in a bout of grayness, I stumbled upon this sort of gritty, dark, little Brooklyn gem.  There's something avante about it, but it's based in good solid songwriting and hell, it kind of rocks.  It's almost like Sonic Youth and Jimmy Eats World made love and produced an asymmetrical love child.  I just want to squeeze it till its atonal little eyes pop out.

Who/What:  Family Portrait - On The Floor
Where'd I Find It:  Somewhere amongst these vast interwebs

Why I Like It: This is surf rock mixed with psych and a bit of motor oil.  A sort of dirty boardwalk ditty that draws to mind beach side rendezvous tainted by a stinky homeless man stealing your picnic basket.  It's sand and water, but the kind you find on the Jersey Shores, not Hawaii.

Who/What:  Nodzzz - True To Life
Where'd I Find It:  Hmmm ... got to guess Raven Sings The Blues

Why I Like It: I've been fantasizing about some sort of new Nodzzz release since I burned holes in my vinyl copy of their too short debut LP.  I've seen this Bay Area trio a few times now, and yes, I still lurk creepily off to the side, leering oddly, but that doesn't mean I don't deserve a beautiful 7" of new tracks that I can play in my room with candles lit and an expensive bottle of wine all to myself.  Is that too much to ask?

Who/What:  Volcano Choir - Island, IS
Where'd I Find It:  Sent to me by the good people of somewhere or something.

Why I Like It: Because Justin Vernon could spit on my grandmother and I'd cheer and clap and give him the money from my wallet.  Sure, this ain't no Bon Iver (and I'm waiting, don't you know it), but there's something about the eerie electronica of Vernon's collabo with Collections of Colonies of Bees that takes just a little edge off my intense Bon Iver withdrawal.  It isn't pure, but it'll hold off the shakes until my dealer gets here.
