This is a skimpy weekend when it comes to new stuff, but luckily, for you and me, half of the selections are amazing and half of the selections are better avoided.

I'll let you decide which I believe is which.

As always, thanks for reading!

Hitting Theaters This Weekend:

INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS

Director: Quentin Tarantino
Cast: Brad Pitt, B.J. Novak, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger

Summary: A group of Jewish soldiers in WWII tromp in to France to kill some dirty Nazi's.

Thoughts:  I think Quentin Tarantino is a nutcase and though I'm almost always confused as to what and why and where and who and what in the hell this man is doing, I'm almost always at least entertained by his pop pastiches of film.  I love a good WWII movie, and one populated by underrated Jewish actors and Brad Pitt as a 1940s lieutenant named Aldo has my ears perked in every imaginable fashion.  It'll be gory and beautiful and filled with amazing music and there will be tirades of inconceivable monologues and beautiful women and clever allusions to films you've never seen but Tarantino believes are holy by nature.  This will be a Tarantino film and if you do not like yourself a Tarantino film then maybe you should find yourself in a different theater come this weekend.  I will be front and center, popcorn wedged between my teeth, shit-eating grin turned to 100.

Rotten Tomatoes Score:  89%

POST-GRAD

Director:  Vicky Jenson
Cast:  Alexis Bleidel, Michael Keaton, Carol Burnett

Summary:  A post-grad can't find work in the real world, so she has to move in with her quirky family.

Thoughts:  Two things put me off about this film: one, the main characters name is Ryden Malby and two, Vicky Jenson was the name behind Shrek.  The name Ryden Malby makes my sphincter tighten in agony and Shrek still makes me angry.  All I can say is it is nice to see Michael Keaton getting more work, even if it is bottom-feeder food like this.

Rotten Tomatoes Score:  9%

Final Thoughts: It isn't even a thought.  I will be seeing Inglorious Basterds just as soon as I can.
