Today's Quick Mention:  After an initial phase of anger towards their list-making laziness, I decided to return to Pitchfork to see how their "Top 500 Songs Of The Decade" were playing out.  Fortunately, there was actual commentary this time, but I'm not sure how I feel about many of their selections.  Your thoughts?

As you may have noticed, this week has just been flooded with new stuff from a slew of great pop bands  Today, hopefully to your delight, is more of the same, but this time it's by way of The Spinto Band.  Their next LP won't be out on Park The Van until next year, but on October 6 you will be able to get a snazzy four-song EP titled Slim And Slender.  Consider it highly recommended.  Enjoy.

:The Spinto Band - Jackhammer:  If you heard any of the band's last album, Moon Wink, then you are probably aware of how good they are at making the kind of pop music that makes you happily dance around like a crazy person.  Well, that's not necessarily what's going on here, but it's still very accessible and the almost-twangy, slow paced arrangement is an interesting shift.  So, no real need to pull out your best movies, this one is straight up just for your listening pleasure.  Use headphones.
