Today's Quick Mention:  Can you believe the stuff that Les Paul did in the 94 years that he graced the Earth with his presence?  Multitrack recording, some contraption known as the electric guitar.  And that doesn't even mention his catalog of great songs.  What a musician.

Daptone Records are all I need when it comes to soul music, but if anyone can make me stray it's King Kahn, who always seems to be involved in something inspiring.  His latest interest is the Almighty Defenders, which also features members of fellow Vice act the Black Lips, and you can expect the band's self titled debut to be released on  September 22.  Enjoy.

:The Almighty Defenders - Cone Of Light:  When you consider that the last track I shared, Bow Down And Die, featured some rather impassioned wailing (you know, the kind that you can imagine a hundred drunks singing along with after a long night at the bar),  this is a fairly reserved effort.  In fact, it's really nothing more than a nicely crafted piece of vintage pop.  You can handle it.  If not, you're doing it wrong, and I advise that you leave it on repeat until you figure out what the problem is.
