Today's Quick Mention:  As you may recall, earlier in the year I rallied behind local act The Calm Blue Sea and the score that they had created for the classic silent film that is Siegfried.  Now, much to my excitement, the thunderous and beautiful soundtrack can be owned!  Buy it while you can.  Seriously.

There's only one thing in music that can be more forgettable than a supergroup or a song that's attached to a particular dance, and it's a band that features a famous actor.  Sorry.  It's just the truth.  Of course though, there are exceptions, and one of them seems to be Ryan Gosling, who is one half of the rather good Dead Man's Bones.  Look for the self titled LP on October 6.  Enjoy.

:Dead Man's Bones - My Body's A Zombie For You:  Want to know the reason most actors can't cut it as musicians?  Because they make boring pop albums.  Mr. Gosling knows better, so joining him in this musical adventure is Zack Shields (also an actor) and the Silverlake Conservatory Children's Choir, and together they have crafted a theatrical listen that features silky smooth vocals, a soaring chorus and an oddly paced, but interesting arrangement.  So, it's weird, but accessible.  I think you'll dig it.
