Today's Quick Mention: So, it would appear that the equally loved and hated Pitchfork is gearing up to do a variety of lists and feature pieces in regards to the last decade of music.  Your thoughts?  Personally, I can't decide if I'm excited or scared.

Finally!  For a while now I've been patiently waiting for some all-girl band to come along and take a little buzz away from the Vivian Girls, and it has happened with the Splinters.  Or, at least that's the case in my head.  Based out of Oakland, the ladies just released a two song 7" titled Splintered Bridges.  If you can find it then I highly recommend that you buy it.  Enjoy.

:The Splinters - Splintered Bridges:  While I have no doubt that this quartet could turn the dials to 11 and go full on noise, I rather appreciate the fact that they seem intent on staying with the more garage rock-enthused side of things.  That means we get songs that are easily accessible, and they get to keep their fuzzy sound.  It's win-win for everyone!  Also, it's a blast, as shown by this jangly gem from retro-heaven.
