Today's Quick Mention:  Holy Crap!  It's finals time tonight at Pluckers Trivia.  In the past 12 weeks Team Dine And Dash has done well (top three finishes all but four, maybe five times), so keep your fingers crossed that we emerge victorious when it matters most.

Here's an EP.  Enjoy.

:Future Of The Left - Arming Eritrea:  On the short list of bands that I'd give at least an arm and/or a leg to see reunite and perform live is Mclusky.  So, it shouldn't be a surprise that I'm all about what it's ex-members (in this case, singer/guitarist Andy "Falco" Falkous and drummer Jack Egglestone) are up to.  Does Future Of The Left slay me like Mclusky did?  No, but it still rocks hard enough to knock the eardrums around a bit.  Travels With Myself And Another will be out in June on 4AD.

:We The They - Pastures:  At first I thought this band's all too clever name and borderline bland take on indie pop would make me place them in the trash bin, but just to make sure I wasn't missing out on something good I gave them a few more listens.  Now, of course, I can't stop tapping my foot and daydreaming about driving around on a sunny day with the windows down.  Damn that due diligence!  The Shabby Road Sessions EP is available now and a full length should be out later in the year.

:Freeland - Under Control:  I hadn't heard of Freeland before this track landed in my inbox (probably because his last album was roughly five years ago), but he's got a ton of talent - Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Manson, Brody Dalle from the Distillers, Joey Santiago from the Pixies - that has lent a helping hand on his upcoming full length for Marine Parade, Cope.  That has to mean something, right?  Anyhow, listen if you like LCD Soundsystem's North American Scum.

:Wye Oak - Take It In:  I'm fairly late in jumping on the Wye Oak bandwagon (well, in 2009 anyway, I liked the album they had last year) and I don't even really have any excuse.  After all, this is an incredibly crafted piece of pop that impresses me with every listen AND I've been looking forward to see them play with the Pomegranates at the Mohawk a week from today.  I blame the weather.  Merge will release The Knot on July 21.  You should get a couple of copies.

:The Lovely Sparrows - M Ward Cover:  Shawn Jones knows he takes way too long to get from one record to the next, so to make sure I haven't forgot about him he sent over this cover with nothing more than a note that mentioned how it was recorded during some downtime from the new album.  I don't know what the title of the song is and it's so poorly recorded it sounds like folk noise, but damn it - even through the fuzz there's still an undeniable warmth and a passion for music that I can't help but like.
