Today's Quick Mention:  I've decided that the NFL draft is ridiculous due to the fact that it's placed at the point of the year where you realize that very soon the only sport on TV will be baseball, so you end up watching hours of talking heads in order to get a big enough football high to last the summer.  Lame!

I had an EP planned for today, but then the powers-that-be (aka PR/Label folk) notified me that it was finally OK to share a little something from the brand new Naomi Shelton And The Gospel Queens full length, What Have You Done, My Brother?, and I'm taking advantage of the freedom.  Daptone Records will release the LP on May 26.  Buy every copy.  Enjoy.

:Naomi Shelton And The Gospel Queens - What Have You Done?:  As is always the case with Daptone Records (home of Sharon Jones And The Dap-Kings - in case you forgot), they have something here that's soul perfection.  The music, which is provided by some of the same folks that back-up Sharon, beams with authenticity, and Naomi's voice has the kind of genuine passion that just bowls you over.  There's no way you don't like this.
