Today's Quick Mention: I think you all should come out and join
me at the Parish tonight for Thao Nguyen And The Get Down Stay Down, but if
you ended up at Diagonals/Follow That Bird (at Emo's) or Ume (at Mohawk)
then I wouldn't blame you. Too much.
I missed out on the random show that the Sounds had at La Zona Rosa a few
months ago, which really bummed me out since they've been absent for a few
years and I wanted to hear some new material. But, good apparently
comes to those who are totally forced to wait - below is the first
single to the band's long awaited third LP, Crossing The Rubicon.
Look for it in early June. Enjoy.
:The
Sounds - Dorchester Hotel:
If you listen to the podcast (and really, why shouldn't
you?) then you might remember me saying that I thought
Metric's latest release sounded like a veteran act who
capitalized on a creative burst. This pretty much
feels the same way. You won't find much that you've haven't
heard from them before, but that's OK since power pop anthem
are just what the Sounds do best. Good luck
coordinating your body enough to dance and pump your
fist.
