Today's Quick Mention:  Just in case you don't follow me on Twitter, during Record Store Day I snatched up the Cursive/Ladyfinger 10" picture disc, the Lykke Li/El Perro Del Mar split 7", the two new LPs from Mono and Crystal Antlers and last year's School Of Seven Bells effort.  Missed out on the Thao/Thermals split 7" though, which bums me out.  What did you guys get?

Now for a audible high five.  Enjoy.

:Deerhunter - Rainwater Cassette Exchange:  I'm still not sure that I'm fully onboard with all the fascination and acclaim that always seems to follow Deerhunter (and really, anything that Bradford Cox does) around, but on occasion - like with this breezy and simplistic effort - they do provide something that hits the spot.  You'll be able to physically own this song and a couple of other new ones when the band's Rainwater Cassette Exchange EP hits store shelves on June 8 via Kranky.

:Baby Teeth - Big School:  Abraham Levitan (BT's main brain) spent all of last year putting up a new song a week at his songwriting blog 52 Teeth (many of those efforts make up the upcoming LP), so if this sounds less like a piece of conceptual art and more like a Hold Steady-esque lyrically driven pop jam then that would be why - no time to ponder about whatever when you have to get another track recorded, right?  The sure to be fantastic Hustle Beach is due July 14 via Lujo Records.

:Jarvis Cocker - Angela:  While I won't say that this is my favorite track in today's EP, I will point out that I think it's probably your best bet to help make this Monday a bit more tolerable.  Everything from the guitar riffs to the lyrics are very simple, driving forces that only require a small fragment of your attention to enjoy.  Hell, you'll probably even learn all the words to this before it hits the halfway mark.  Rough Trade will put out Further Complications next month.

:Dinosaur Bones - NYE:  For an act that hasn't been together longer than this blog has been on the internet, they sound rather put together.  My guess is that it's due to them be a talented bunch of guys, but I suppose there's always the off chance that this inspired (and wonderfully lush, might I add) effort is what happens when people get together, make music and don't worry about the rest.  Either way, I'm very interested in hearing what's on the full length that they'll be releasing later in the year.

:Cymbals Eat Guitars - Some Trees (Merritt Moon):  This band enters the world of SOTO with a Best New Music badge from Pitchfork and love from plenty of other blogs.  Personally, I can't say whether or not the new record is incredible since I haven't given it a full listen, but I do know that this is one killer track that balances itself very comfortably on the line between catchy indie rock and post punk fury.  Why There Are Mountains is self released and available now.
